MULINI E CONCERIE RUPESTRI, L’ANTICA CITTA’ DI NOTO, E IL LAGO PENSILE.
Un trekking immersi nella natura tra storia e archeologia. Questa antica città, circondata da profondi canyon, sorge su uno degli altipiani Iblei più intressanti, monte Alveria, abitato sin dai tempi più remoti da diverse civiltà. Il percorso inizia entrando dalla porta della montagna dove da subito si distinguono le rovine dell’antica città di Noto, distrutta durante il terremoto del 1693. Ammireremo i resti del castello e della chiesa dei gesuiti per poi addentrarci all’interno di uno dei canyon originati dall’azione erosiva delle acque. Visiteremo le bellissime gole della cava carosello, con i suoi mulini, le sue concerie rupestri e infine il bellissimo lago pensile.
ROCKY MILLS, TANNERIES, ANCIENT NOTO RUINS, AND THE HANGING POND.
A trek in the nature between history and archeology. This ancient city, surrounded by deep canyons, rises on one of the most charming iblean plateaus, Alveria Mount, inhabited since ancient times by different civilizations. The route begins by entering from the mountain gate where the ruins of the ancient city of Noto, destroyed during the earthquake of 1693, can be immediately seen. We will admire the ruins of the castle and the Jesuits church and then enter into one of the canyon originated from the erosive action of the waters. We will visit the beautiful gorges of the carousel, with its mills, its rock tanneries and finally the beautiful hanging lake.
